Since 2014, Giving Bag has partnered with independent and design-led hotels around the world to help reduce waste and redirect gently used items to local nonprofit organizations. Our program is built to be simple, operationally light, and aligned with modern hospitality values, allowing hotels to offer guests a tangible way to give back during their stay.​

WHAT SHOULD I DONATE?

Once at a participating Section L property, simply place gently used clothing, shoes, or books into Giving Bag. Other items we've seen donated are belts, hats, and neck ties. At the moment, we cannot accept money or food as donations.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Upon checkout, your items will be collected from the room's Giving Bag and organized for donation to a local charity. Items will be inspected before donation to make sure they are in usable condition to be donated.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT 📷

During your stay, take a picture and tag @StaySection_L and @givingbag. You can also use #givingbag along with your @ tags.

Some of the charities being supported by Section L

  • ReShare Store Tokyo - The ReShare Store builds on the long-standing Salvation Army “bazaar” concept in Tokyo, where donated items are collected, sorted, and sold to support social welfare efforts. The Salvation Army runs these bazaar activities to offer affordable goods and to promote reuse rather than disposal.

At Section L Hotels, Giving Bag invites guests to participate in a small but meaningful act of generosity by donating items they no longer need at the end of their stay. These items are then delivered to local charity partners, creating a positive connection between travelers and the neighborhoods they visit.

 

This partnership reflects Section L’s commitment to intentional design, conscious travel, and community connection. By integrating Giving Bag into the guest journey, Section L Hotels offers an elevated experience that extends beyond the room and into the city itself.
